General information for the Homepage
Greetings Hockey Fans and welcome to the Amstel Tijgers
website.

We, the Amstel Tijgers, are the only ice hockey club in Amsterdam,
where our training and games have taken place since 1963
(Click on “Historie” for more information in Dutch).
We play games and tournaments throughout the Netherlands and
neighbouring countries. Our teams have recorded very good
results but our true priorities for the children are the promotion and
instruction of ice hockey for the sake of exercise, amusement and
the love of the game.
It is fun for the whole family!
Children and parents can enjoy evening matches between the first team and their opponents from
Holland and other European countries.
These games are often held on a weekend evening and highlight the best hockey talent in this country
and many others from abroad. Come join in the excitement!
For more information about and registration forms for the team, please check under the specific team
groupings.

Thank you for your interest in our team and for taking the time to visit this site (our apologies that it is not
all in English, but we are in the process of setting up more English functions).

Ice Hockey School
Everyone knows that the Netherlands is a football-crazy country.
For this reason, children from a young age often join a football organization.

To enable the youth of Amsterdam to get to know the game of
ice hockey, the Amstel Tijgers Hockey Association
(IJshockey Vereniging Amstel Tijgers anno 1963) set up a
hockey school in 1963.
The school is divided into 3 groups
Children of 3 and 4 can become acquainted with the game of ice hockey.
The purpose of this group is to allow children a fun envoronment to learn the fundamentals of skating.
Girls and boys learn the sport under the expert guidance of Ed Keijzer.

Children of 5 to 8 years who can skate reasonably well are placed with Frank van Rossum.
Specific hockey skills are taught so the children can eventually move on to train with the Mini’s or Welpen
Amstel Tijger teams.

Children from 8 years are placed in the third group under the leadership of Rob Spijker.
Here, training is more technical and very much oriented to ice hockey skating. From this group, children
can move on to the Welpen or the E-team.

Trial practices
Girls and boys can try two practices at a cost of 5,50 euros
per session. After this trial period, the child can decide if they
want to try out for the Amstel Tijgers.
The annual fee for the season is 160 euros for 1 practice
session per week or 275 euros for 2 practices per week.
The trainers will then decide if he or she should continue or if
it is better to stop, to be fair to everyone.

Training/practice times
The weekly training time for the ice hockey school is on Sunday from 10:55 to 11:50 in Jaap Edenhal.
If you become a member of the club, then you start to training two times a week. On Wednesday from
17:00 to 18:00 and 18:00 to 19:00 on the outdoor ice rink at the Jaap Eden Complex.
The trainer will let you know which one of the outdoor times to expect to attend.
